A portable basketball hoop has a large plastic base with wheels for rolling, but do not be fooled by the name. These types of goals often remain stationary through their lifetime. Because portable hoops are weighted by either sand or water inside the plastic base, they do not require in-ground installation. However, they do require around 90 minutes of assembly. These bases cannot bear the same amount of weight as an in-ground goal, making them unable to uphold a glass backboard and decreasing their stability during rough play.
